For Immediate Release
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (May 15, 2012)--One hundred years ago on May 15, 1912, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) established a presence in the City of Los Angeles in the form of a lodge in what was then known as Old Chinatown. The Los Angeles Lodge of C.A.C.A. would be a leading community participant, and its members, important community leaders devoted to public good. In the 1930s, then Lodge president Peter Soo Hoo was a key figure in the creation and development of New Chinatown after the old enclave was dislocated due to eminent domain. The efforts for a new home began then and almost a decade later the new headquarters for Los Angeles C.A.C.A. was opened at 415 Bamboo Lane in Chinatown in 1956. The building remains to this day the headquarters of the Los Angeles Lodge of C.A.C.A.
