C.A.C.A. Leaders Discuss Landmark Birthday of the L.A. Lodge

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (May 25, 2012)--As the Los Angeles Lodge of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) celebrates 100 years, members of the press are invited to meet the organization's senior leaders Carolyn Chan, C.A.C.A. Grand President, and Dr. Munson Kwok, former C.A.C.A. Grand President (2005-2007), who will be available for interviews on Saturday, May 26, 2012. The press conference will take place at 4:00pm in the San Jose Room located on the Second Floor of the Hilton Hotel in San Gabriel, at 225 West Valley Blvd., San Gabriel, CA 91776.

Both Grand President Chan and Dr. Kwok will discuss the history of one of the nation's oldest civil rights organizations, its accomplishments as well as current issues, including the push for a national apology from the U.S. Congress for the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.

On May 15, 1912, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A.) established a presence in the City of Los Angeles in the form of a lodge. One hundred years of service to the community and struggle and achievement against adversity and injustice will be celebrated at the Centennial Gala of the Los Angeles Lodge on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at the Hilton Hotel. Guests will included prominent national, regional and local elected officials and civic leaders. The 100th birthday celebration is sold out.

All tax-deducible contributions from the Centennial Gala will benefit C.A.C.A. Community Action, a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to provide educational and public service programs for the benefit of the community. Established in 1895, the Chinese American Citizens Alliance is one of the nation's oldest civil rights organization championing the rights of Chinese Americans.
